Rob came highly recommended to us by our interior designer (who helped us with our current house, my business, and now the house we're planning to build). We couldn't be happier. He's professional, meticulous, and incredibly responsive by e-mail or phone, but the two things I like the most about working with him are that he's an exceptionally good listener, and he's does everything he can design-wise to meet our budget. After our first meeting (where we discussed what we hoped to achieve) the plans Rob drew up were EXACTLY what we wanted. And since then, he's continued to work with us on the smaller details, and has gone to the city multiple times to make sure we can get as much out of the house (for instance, higher ceilings) that our budget and city codes allow. He's great.

You can't do better than Rob. We worked with him on a structure/platform for our garden slope that unfortunately started as the pandemic hit. Back-and-forth with the City of LA ended up being difficult, drawn out almost three years. During all that time, Rob remained positive and committed to us, and honored the original (very reasonable) budget. Our project was complicated by the nature of our home and neighborhood, where most houses and additions were built quite close to each other before building codes changed over the years, severely limiting setbacks, etc. We had to apply for, and justify, a deviation from current rules. Rob came up with an imaginative solution, and took the lead with the City, structural engineer and other professionals (soils engineer, surveyor, etc.). He was organized, efficient and willing to do whatever was needed to get particular tasks modified and finished, sometimes in the face of contradictory and frustrating City demands that sometimes seemed to go on forever. He's charming and personable and articulate, always calm, looking for solutions, a clear communicator, very experienced. Even grumpy folks at the City responded well to him and his ideas. He got us across the finish line when things could easily have gone the other way. Rob's good cheer in the face of adverse circumstances was crucially important to us and much appreciated. We wish we had another project so that we could hire him again!
